Preparing for a trip also means you need to prepare for what you plan on eating and drinking! With that said, I did some research into what Swedish alcohol and cocktails typically are made of. Here is what I found:
Brännvin is probably best translated as light Swedish vodka. It is normally about 30 and 38% (ABV). It is translated as meaning burn-wine (bränn = burn, vin = wine). It is referred to as burning since the distillation is rather tasteless wine with it being made of potatoes and cereal grains. Here is a cocktail made with Brännvin:
Akvavit is a common alcohol at special occasions such special dinners or even holidays. It is similar to a shot like schnapps . Here is a cocktail made with Akvavit:
Swedish Punsch is made from sugar cane spirits from both the East and West Indies. KRONAN Swedish Punsch is a rich, full-bodied rum with an after taste of toffee, smoke, molasses and leather…yes leather! It is mostly served straight but can be served as a cocktail with other spirits such as this one:
It’s important to know what you are putting in your mouth, let alone your liver so, while you are in Sweden you will hopefully have some insight to what you are drinking!
