First off I just wanted to say thanks sooo much for all the Birthday wishes on Facebook, via texts and of course the cute cards and gifts I got as well!
For those of who don’t know my Birthday was this past Thursday. While I still had to go to work, I celebrated after work by meeting my parents out for dinner in downtown Libertyville. My boyfriend Mark joined me as we had delicious food and drink for the second year in a row at Firkin Restaurant. For all of you that have not been there before it is a must! Although the parking sometimes can be a pain, and you have to park in the parking garage, my family and I are obsessed with the amazing food and wide selection of beers/drinks that they offer! It is also decorated both festive and colorful all the time!
I had the spicy pork tacos, my parents got the chicken schnitzel and mark got the blackened mahi mahi. And of course there were many rounds of mango martinis and craft beers. Ironically my server’s birthday was also June 9th!!!
For my Birthday weekend, Mark and I originally had planned that we were going to go up to Wisconsin and take the four-wheelers for some fun on the cheesehead trails, but as a lot of women know, most guys wait until the last minute so he decided instead of spending all night going back and forth grabbing the trailer/4-wheelers, he would just treat me to renting a side by side from Mike’s Engine Works in Darlington WI.
So we woke up bright and early Saturday, after dropping off Kip at my parents friday night, and drove two hours and 45 minutes to Darlington where we grabbed the side by side. We tied down our bags and drove up to our hotel in Mineral Point WI, the end of the cheesehead trail. For more information regarding the ATV trails up Wisconsin, click here.
My task was to find a place to stay in Mineral Point and I nailed it. 23 Step Inn, which is a B&B above Gray Dog Deli (it is owned by the same family), and it is absolutely adorable and decorated unbelievably! Here is a video of our room since the pictures online don’t give it as much justice!
After dropping our things at the B&B we bar hopped between all of the cheese head trail and had a fun time dodging chipmunks on the trail, saving turtles and of course going FAST! People up in Wisconsin, small towns are just so nice! Wish I would have taken more pictures/videos, but tried to stay in the moment and enjoy myself, sorry!
We also had breakfast Sunday morning at Gray Dog Deli and it was yummy, even with a hangover!
All and all fun week to ring in 27! I would highly recommend both eating at Firkin in Libertyville, IL and also taking a weekend to go up and enjoy the cheesehead trail on either a 4wheeler or side by side.
Cheers,
Britt
