Thirsty Thursday – National Margarita Day

There are a lot of holidays on our National Calendar. Some reflect the history of our nation, some honor a deceased hero and others…well, others are really just fillers between Christmas and everything else. While some people observe days for religious reasons, I think it’s time we start observing more cultural holidays. And yes, I am talking about holidays that revolve around booze. You know, real reasons to take off work.

Next Monday is National Margarita Day. I know, it’s still winter but you really don’t need to wait on a season for a margarita. I don’t discriminate with cocktails, that’s just the way I was raised. I accept all mixed drinks, no matter their backgrounds, alcohol level or bitterness. I gathered some great margarita recipes in today’s Thirsty Thursday. I hope you save some of these, because you will be thinking of them when the weather heats up.

So since we are still in winter, I could imagine a refreshing margarita might be just what you need to get you ready for spring. Maybe this weekend, make a batch of one of these margarita’s, check out some of your summer clothes and do some closet cleaning. You might make some good purges and be able to sell something online. Enjoy these great recipes!

Snow Day Margaritas

I could not have found a more perfect recipe to start off this post! Simple, delicious and something you can drink all year round. I love the simplicity of this drink. Something you could easily make as long as you have the key ingredient, tequila. Get the full recipe from H. Camille Smith at HGTV.com.

Vanilla Pear Margarita

This might be my favorite one. Vanilla and pear are one of my favorite pairings. I love my vanilla pear tea’s but never thought of it as a margarita! Needless to say, I will be trying this out on National Margarita Day…and probably a few more days this year. Bravo Best Friends for Frosting! Love this recipe!

Frozen Blueberry Margarita

Sometimes you can’t always count on fresh fruits in the winter. Weather they are out of season or too high priced, sweet juicy fruit isn’t exactly flowing over the aisles in February. One thing you can count on is frozen fruits and vegetables! In case you do find yourself in the frozen foods aisle, grab a bag of blueberries and head to the liquor aisle because you will want this tasty drink! Get the full recipe at the most adorable food blog, Cookie and Kate.

Cucumber, Mint & Lime Margarita

I’m going to keep the unique margarita flavors rolling and this is no exception. Cucumber mint is really not new, but I have never had it in a margarita. I think with this the lime really gives it that sweetness, paired with tequila, it solidifies this drink as a margarita and not a wannabe mojito. Get the full recipe at Jet & Indigo.

Cinnamon Margarita

So there is a name I never thought I would here, cinnamon margarita. It sounds like it should be the name and face of the winter margarita club! Slightly sweet and with the subtle spice of cinnamon, what a creative way to make a drink! Get the recipe at Hatchery

Roasted Tomato Margarita

Bloody Mary fans, this one is for you (and me). Love the roasted tomatoes as garnish. If you are looking at this and already whining because you have to roast some tomatoes, shut up and deal with it. Every woman in her twenties should know how to roast something. If you want a boozy lunch with out the tart cocktail, this is a great alternative! Enjoy this recipe and much more at Beautiful Booze.

Are we ready for booze o’clock yet? Happy Thirsty Thursday!
